In 2017, our founders Faradjine and Kavya met while working for Data architecture at SiriusXM in New York City. Growing up in Haiti and India respectively, both of them were aware of the lack of opportunities for young women in developing countries and underserved communities. Driven to fix this narrative and to give back to girls just like them, they decided to start Society of Women Coders to empower girls through education and careers in technology as a tool towards attaining Financial Independence.
